Wow what a long(good) weekend....

First off it was great to see Becky again. Haven't seen her since she moved to New Mexico. A BIG thank you to her and her family for their hospitality.

Ok, I guess the best way to do this is chronological order:

Leaving Detroit:
Ok I left Friday, a day after we got a bunch of snow so I was expecting a late departure for my flight. I got to the airport and found out that there was indeed a 50 minute delay, thats fine, I knew it was coming. But then....

After boarding the airplane the captain informed us that there was going to be another "short" delay, because of a faulty part. After 2 hours and a half dozen announcements we get the following announcement from the captain, "Ladies and Gentlemen, the mechanic is here with the part and says it shouldn't take long to install as it is only held on by two screws."

Two screws?!? This entire airplane of passengers is being delayed by a part that is held in with two scres?! A: How important is this part and B: If it's important enough that it's delayed us two hours WHY IS IT ONLY HELD IN WITH TWO SCREWS?!

Day One:
So we finally leave Detroit (ten minutes after we were already supposed to be in Atlanta.) I got to Atlanta with just enough time to get to my other flight and board.

We got Applebees and spent the first night in a hotel, as it was after 8:30pm when I landed and we weren't going to drive the 3 miles back to her Sister's house.

Day Two:
After a free breakfast buffet the next morning we headed out to Aztec. It turned out that Becky had to work Saturday night so we got some Sonic(my first time and it was great) and she went to work.

Day Three:
The next morning I woke up, before Becky, headed to the kitchen to get a soda and suddenly felt a bit queasy. Before I knew it I was beginning a day of nearly nonstop sickness. 5 times I drove the porcelain school bus while spending the day in bed. Becky ended up taking the night off work to take care of me...

*insert pause to allow for a gratuitous "awwwww"*

By about 10-11 o'clock that night I was starting to feel better so I finally got out of bed and joined Becky for some TV in the living room. She went to bed at midnight and I followed shortly after. Unfortunately after spending the day in bed I was not tired at all.

Day Four:
I basically stayed up all night tossing and turning in bed until 6:30am at which time I began to learn that Sportcenter actually loops the same program during the middle of the night over and over(I watched the same loop 3 times.) Around noon Becky and I left to go drive around so that she could show me different monuments and stuff.

Our first stop was a place called Ship Rock. A large Volcanic neck(google "Ship rock") Anyways being adventurous Becky suggested we go down a small dirt road(the road in this pic) and get closer to the monolith. Well 20 minutes of driving or so later we were actually behind the rock(if you're looking at that pic) and we tried climbing a hill and failed due to the sandy terrain. We back down the hill and attempt to turn around and wind up stuck in sand. After walking for more than an hour and a half, calling a couple different tow companies, seeing coyotes, beer bottles and shotgun shells, we finally arrive at a road to wait for the wrecker. It was after dark when he showed up and took us to the stranded Ranger.

Our plan had been to stay the night in Albuquerque Monday night and go to the zoo and aquarium there Tuesday before my flight home. Well we didn't wind up getting home until about 9pm and again weren't up for a late night three hour drive.

Day Five:
Tuesday morning rolled around and with so little time left we didn't get to do much except for breakfast and pack to leave. All in all I had a great time in New Mexico(there was quite a bit omitted.)

Then there was the whole flight home being double booked and delayed and re routed and etc etc.....

Are you still reading? Holy crap!

an important part held on with only two screws may be an electronic part of some kind rather than mechanical.
